Passing | A tribute to my pets

 The short is currently still in production.

The year 2020 started off with the death of one of my beloved pets, Gollum, 6 months later her partner in crime, Smeagol, also passed away. I loved them dearly. To honour them I created a short animation about Smeagol reuniting with Gollum in the afterlife.

This short feathers my childhood self and the support and strength I felt from my stuffed animal, IJlie. As a kid I struggled to express myself and by being able to play her I found a voice. Stuffed animals hold a lot of power and are a great way to connect if a kid finds this difficult.

This beer is called 'The Lawnmower'. I wanted to create a humorous scene where someone is clearly failing to understand what a lawnmower is used for...

Back in 2017 this was one of the short-film chosen to play at ‘De Pont’ museum in Tilburg.
It’s a short based on a film by Isaac Julien, Better Life (Ten Thousand Waves).
